Jordun Love from dance floors to designer runways, a journey of passion and creativity. Breaking boundaries and redefining the modeling world.

Jordun Love’s rise to fame is nothing short of a dream in motion. Born and raised in Philadelphia, he began his artistic journey as a dancer, captivating audiences at venues like Disney World and halftime shows for the Philadelphia 76ers. But Jordun’s story doesn’t stop there. He seamlessly transitioned from the dance floor to the runway, quickly becoming a sought-after name in the fashion world. With his striking features and luscious long hair, Jordun turned heads on the Givenchy runway and graced the pages of renowned publications like Vogue, W Magazine, and Nylon. His ability to blend artistry and authenticity makes him a force to be reckoned with in the industry.

Behind the glitz and glamor, Jordun is a grounded individual with a passion for personal growth, mental health advocacy, and inspiring others. He’s not just about breaking boundaries in fashion—he’s about creating meaningful change. As we sit down with Jordun, we dive into his journey, his inspirations, and his vision for the future.

Slick: Jordun, you’ve had such an exciting journey already. If you had to describe yourself in just five words, what would those words be, and why?

Jordun: That’s a good one! I’d say I’m someone living on valued energy because everything I do, whether it’s dancing, modeling, or even just having a conversation, is rooted in being intentional and present. Every word, every action carries meaning, and I try to make sure my energy reflects that at all times.

Slick: That mindfulness really shows in how you approach your work. Let’s talk about your mornings—how do you usually start your day?

Jordun: Honestly, I have to admit that the very first thing I do is check my phone. It’s a habit I’m not proud of, but it’s my way of catching up with the world. Right after that, though, I make time to meditate for anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. It’s a non-negotiable ritual for me because it helps me clear my mind, set intentions for the day, and get into a positive headspace.

Slick: Meditation sounds like a great way to start fresh every day. Now, let’s imagine for a moment that the fashion industry didn’t exist. What career path do you think you’d pursue instead?

Jordun: If fashion wasn’t an option, I would definitely be a psychologist, specifically focusing on children’s mental health. I’ve always felt drawn to helping others, and I think understanding how kids process emotions and helping them navigate challenges could be incredibly fulfilling. Growing up, I had people who supported me and encouraged me, and I’d love to offer that same kind of guidance to others.

Slick: That’s such a powerful ambition. Speaking of early influences, you started as a dancer before transitioning into modeling. How did your journey in the arts begin?

Jordun: Dancing was my very first love. I started at the age of 9, and it quickly became an outlet where I could express myself fully. Performing brought me so much happiness, whether it was at Disney World or during halftime at a Philadelphia 76ers game. Those moments helped shape my confidence and creativity, and they’ll always hold a special place in my heart.

Slick: There’s nothing like that energy from a live audience. What’s been your most adrenaline-filled moment recently?

Jordun: I think I feel the biggest adrenaline rush whenever I’m doing something completely new and outside of my comfort zone. For instance, doing a photoshoot over Zoom was such an unexpected experience. I was nervous about how it would turn out, but once I got into it, I realized it was easier and more fun than I had anticipated.

Slick: That willingness to embrace new challenges is inspiring. Let’s talk about your goals—where do you see yourself going in the modeling world?

Jordun: For me, modeling is just one chapter in a much bigger story. My ultimate goal is to evolve into a business mogul. I want to build something that not only inspires people but also creates real opportunities for others to thrive. I see modeling as a stepping stone to something even greater—a platform to make a lasting impact.

Slick: That’s such a forward-thinking perspective. If they made a movie about your life, who do you think would do justice to your story on screen?

Jordun: If I could pick anyone, it would definitely be Jharrel Jerome. There’s something about his energy and the way he brings depth to his characters that feels authentic. I think he’d capture my journey perfectly.

Slick: That would be an amazing casting choice! Now, let’s take it back to style. If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be and why?

Jordun: Without hesitation, I’d say oversized tracksuits from the early 2000s. There’s something so nostalgic yet timeless about them. I already live in oversized sweats most days, so why not take it up a notch with a full tracksuit? It’s comfortable, stylish, and iconic.

“Success is about more than reaching milestones; it’s about growth, impact, and staying true to your values. Uplifting others while chasing your dreams is the ultimate fulfillment.” – Jordun Love

Slick: Oversized tracksuits definitely deserve a comeback. Over the past two years, we’ve all experienced so much change. What’s been the biggest personal shift for you during that time?

Jordun: The past two years have been transformative for me in terms of self-assurance. I’ve grown more confident in my beliefs and in who I am. Learning to trust myself and stand firm in my values has been such a game-changer for how I approach both my career and my personal life.

Slick: That’s incredible growth. Finally, if you could go back in time and give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Jordun: I’d tell my younger self to just keep going because things do get better. Life has its challenges, but those struggles eventually lead to growth and opportunities you couldn’t have imagined.

Slick: What has been your favorite city to visit while traveling for work, and why?

Jordun: Paris, hands down! There’s something so magical about that city. From the architecture to the fashion culture, it’s like stepping into a dream every time I’m there. Walking the streets of Paris always reminds me why I fell in love with this industry in the first place.

Slick: You’ve achieved so much already, but what’s a goal or dream you’re still chasing?

Jordun: One of my biggest dreams is to start my own foundation that focuses on mental health support for young creatives. I want to create a space where kids can explore their artistic passions while having access to the resources and support they need to thrive mentally and emotionally.

Slick: Lastly, if you could change one thing about the fashion industry, what would it be?

Jordun: I’d love to see more diversity—not just in terms of race or gender, but also in body types, abilities, and backgrounds. The industry has made strides, but there’s still so much room to grow. Fashion should reflect the world we live in, and that means embracing all forms of beauty.

Slick: What does success mean to you now, and has that definition evolved over the years?

Jordun: Success used to mean achieving specific milestones, like booking a big campaign or walking a major runway. Now, I see success as living in alignment with my values and finding fulfillment in what I do. It’s about growth, impact, and being in a place where I can uplift others while still pursuing my own dreams.

Pyer Moss Collection 3, "Sister," Delves Deep into the Untold Black History of Rock 'N' Roll, Offering Reverence and Recognition to Its Pioneers.

In the electrifying conclusion to the “American, Also” series, titled “Sister,” the spotlight turns to the incomparable Sister Rosetta Tharpe, whose groundbreaking contributions to music paved the way for generations to come. Revered as the black woman who invented Rock ‘N’ Roll, Tharpe’s legacy is honored through a collection of artwork by recently exonerated artist Richard Philips. This final runway event takes place at the iconic Kings Theatre, a legendary concert hall nestled in the heart of Flatbush, Brooklyn, paying homage to the roots of designer Kerby Jean-Raymond.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe’s influence on the music industry transcends time and genre. From her soul-stirring vocals to her unparalleled guitar skills, Tharpe challenged conventions and defied expectations, carving out a space for herself in a predominantly male-dominated industry. Through her pioneering spirit and fearless creativity, Tharpe blazed a trail for countless artists, leaving an indelible mark on the world of music.

For “American, Also; Lesson 3: Sister,” designer Kerby Jean-Raymond draws inspiration from Tharpe’s boldness and authenticity, infusing each piece with elements of her dynamic persona. The collection pays homage to Tharpe’s fearless style and unapologetic attitude, celebrating her resilience and unwavering commitment to her craft.

Richard Philips, a recently exonerated artist, lends his artistic vision to the collection, capturing the essence of Tharpe’s spirit through his evocative artwork. His pieces serve as a visual tribute to Tharpe’s enduring legacy, offering viewers a glimpse into the soul of a true trailblazer.

The choice of Kings Theatre as the venue for this momentous event holds special significance for Kerby Jean-Raymond, whose roots in Flatbush run deep. As a native son of Brooklyn, Jean-Raymond pays homage to his hometown and its rich cultural heritage, while also honoring Tharpe’s connection to the vibrant music scene of the city.

As the lights dim and the music fills the air, audiences are transported on a journey through time, guided by the spirit of a true pioneer.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe’s remarkable journey began in the heart of the Jim Crow era, where she faced countless obstacles and discrimination as a black woman in the music industry. Despite the challenges, Tharpe remained steadfast in her pursuit of greatness, using her voice and her guitar to break down barriers and defy stereotypes. Her innovative blend of gospel, blues, and rock paved the way for future generations of artists, earning her a rightful place in the pantheon of music legends.

“In Pyer Moss Collection 3, ‘Sister,’ we pay homage to the unsung heroes of Rock ‘N’ Roll, shining a light on their invaluable contributions and ensuring their legacy is remembered and celebrated.”

As the “American, Also; Lesson 3: Sister” collection comes to life on the runway, viewers are treated to a visual and auditory feast that transcends the boundaries of fashion and art. Each garment becomes a canvas for Richard Philips’ evocative artwork, seamlessly integrated into Kerby Jean-Raymond’s bold designs. The fusion of art and music creates a multi-sensory experience that pays homage to Tharpe’s eclectic style and larger-than-life persona.

At its core, “American, Also; Lesson 3: Sister” is a celebration of diversity and inclusion, reflecting Tharpe’s belief in the power of music to bring people together across racial and cultural divides. Through his designs, Jean-Raymond amplifies Tharpe’s message of unity and acceptance, challenging industry norms and championing diversity on the runway. The collection serves as a reminder that music and fashion have the power to inspire change and foster connections that transcend borders and barriers.

Kings Theatre, with its storied history and grandeur, serves as the perfect backdrop for this momentous occasion. As the lights illuminate the stage and the first notes of Tharpe’s iconic songs fill the air, the audience is transported back in time to an era of raw emotion and unbridled passion. The theater’s rich legacy as a hub for live music and performance adds an extra layer of authenticity to the event, reinforcing Brooklyn’s status as a cultural epicenter.

As “American, Also; Lesson 3: Sister” unfolds before their eyes, young aspiring artists and musicians in the audience are inspired by Tharpe’s fearless spirit and unwavering determination. Through her music and her legacy, Tharpe continues to serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration for future generations, reminding them to dream big and never give up on their passions.

As the final curtain falls on “American, Also; Lesson 3: Sister,” the audience is left with a sense of awe and reverence for the incredible legacy of Sister Rosetta Tharpe. But the show is more than just a tribute—it’s a call to action to continue Tharpe’s fight for equality, justice, and artistic freedom. As they exit the theater, viewers are encouraged to carry Tharpe’s message forward and use their own talents and voices to create positive change in the world.

As the echoes of Tharpe’s music fade into the night, her legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of all who were fortunate enough to witness “American, Also; Lesson 3: Sister.” Through the power of art, music, and fashion, Tharpe’s indomitable spirit continues to inspire and uplift, reminding us of the transformative power of creativity and the enduring impact of one woman’s extraordinary journey.
